Firewall-Windows 10 build 10525 Chrome issue?
-
No matter how many times I run the firewall troubleshooter, I still cant stream my movies. I looked at the firewall settings and the port numbers, everything looked fine. The troubleshooter only runs halfway, if I close Chrome completely then it magically "works".
Could this be connected to the recent Chrome issues with Windows 10, I'm running 32 bit however, because the 64 bit version had the issues.
Any help?

@Gandalforce Having exactly the same problem. Since update to build 10525 Videostream has stopped working. Tried my son's pre update version of Windows 10 and everything works fine. Same issue with troubleshooter stopping halfway. Manually checked the ports and they are ok. Seems like the Windows update has created an issue.

Just took Windows back to previous version. Nice to have the undo previous upgrade option. Videostream now working!

same issue here.. was working fine on 10240... not working on 10525... tried everything
-
Guess we will have to wait.
-
Same issue.
Tried deactivating firewall
Tried deactivating AV
Uninstalled AV
Opened ports
Firewall fix get's stuck half way through
Tried reseting chromecast to factory settingsNothing's working
-
@rayco How do you do that?
Windows recovery? -
Same issue here... anyone with a solution

I went to settings, update & security, Windows update, advanced options and there was an option to go back to the previous version of Windows 10. Might be because I have been using the insider version of Windows 10 but it was there for me in 10525.

Hey Everyone, we're looking into this. There seems to be a problem in this build of windows 10 where our settings aren't be listened to by the operating system. We're going to get on this build today and try to see what's happening.
For the time being i'd suggest trying to manually add port 5556 and 5558 TCP, inbound rules to the firewall and see if that works. If it doesn't then downgrading might be the only option :(
This issue only seems to be effecting the beta builds, the windows 10 release should be ok :)

workaround for now Jas... took a while but worked it out..
1: uninstall all/any/every version of chrome with iobit uninstaller 5 and let it scan for all the crap left behind.. then delete it
2: get ccleaner and run it with all options checked [apart from wipe free drive space] and remove crap
3: restart windows 10 build 10525
4: download the chrome dev build here: http://download.cnet.com/Google-Chrome-dev/3000-2356_4-10958229.html
5: install current videostream extension here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/videostream-for-google-ch/cnciopoikihiagdjbjpnocolokfelagl
6: run ccleaner again..
7: restart pc/laptop/server/vps/desktop
8: use videostream to chromecast like you used to.. until it gets fixed!
-
That's a little too much for me, ill just wait until patch/fix comes out.
-
@Gandalforce really? you get the latest version coding plus it is working and no need to wait for Bill to fix his code @MS ;-)
-
dammit bill. will it ever end?
-
Windows 10 build 10532 is rolling out.. going to run the update, see if they fixed the issue with video stream.
-
nope.. they did not :/
-
Agree. No luck either with 10532. Rolling back to the earlier Windows version again. The one before 10525.
-
same issue...I miss being able to use videostream:(
-
@twonk Yes, really. And Gates has nothing to do with it. All new team at Redmond.

If you're still having problems try updating to the latest version of Chrome, seems to have fixed it :)
