    • Brainfreeze has been fixed!

      To everyone who just encountered the Brainfreeze issue on Chromecast, we've just fixed it. There was an old certificate sitting on the Chromecast TV app that we forgot to replace with the rest of them this week

      If you're still seeing the error, try unplugging your Chromecast for a couple seconds and plugging it back in to clear that cache - a big sorry for the inconvenience!

      @Miss-Shane About 3 month ago we should have fixed this. If you're still seeing this something new must be going on - any chance you could send Graham an email (he'll know more about this then me) at graham@getvideostream.com and we'll figure out what's going on here!

      Funny enough we actually used to have surround sound in the app, and then an update from Google broke it and we had to remove it.

      Good news is that they're going to be fixing it by early Sept so it'll be coming back - hang tight!

      Talked to Issac over email - just replying here saying that finer volume control is scheduled for the next feature blitz we do :)

      Volume normalization is a little trickier but is something we want to do down the line :)

      Hey Everyone, we're looking into this. There seems to be a problem in this build of windows 10 where our settings aren't be listened to by the operating system. We're going to get on this build today and try to see what's happening.

      For the time being i'd suggest trying to manually add port 5556 and 5558 TCP, inbound rules to the firewall and see if that works. If it doesn't then downgrading might be the only option :(

      This issue only seems to be effecting the beta builds, the windows 10 release should be ok :)

      Hey All!

      We've talked with the Chrome team and once 44 goes into production (out of beta) this functionality won't be hidden behind a flag - it'll be there for everyone to use!

      We added a bunch of warning messages to the current app to make it so users knew that it didn't work. Right now we're just in the process of stripping all of those out.

      Chromebooks for Intel should be very easy to support, so expect to see something in the next 3 weeks or so

      Chromebook's running ARM might be a little trickier and in many cases won't be able to do a full video transcode (just because they aren't powerful enough) but we do plan on adding support here (and perhaps warning messages on the files that won't work). Still trying to figure ARM out

      Hang in there guys, should be out soon!

      Hey! Sorry but yeah this is intended functionality we've just recently added a 20minute timeout on the Chromecast. We had a couple users who left it paused and it actually burned the video into the TV :(

      Just curious, what's the case that you want to leave the picture up for 20+ min?

      Hey Bang!

      On the android app, we were doing a staged rollout so not all of you guys had the new android app for a couple days! We just rolled out it out to 100% so if you reboot your phone and check for updates, you should get the newest version!

      On the IP tables, you should be able to set that command to run every time on boot, which distro of Linux are you running?

      To stream photos: just open up the app on desktop app, click the big blue button in the centre, then click the chromecast you want them to stream to and you'll be good to go!

      Note: You'll need a chromecast on the same wifi network and the cast extension installed to do all of this :) (If you don't have the cast extension, our app should guide you through the whole process)

      Just ran into this at home and it looks like there is an easy (although somewhat annoying fix). Rebooting your computer should put things back into working operation

      Restarting chromecast, router and chrome didn't seem to have any effect

      Hey Everyone, this is definitely an issue right now. It seems like the update happened to either the Chrome extension or Chromecast and it's causing random drops in connectivity to the CC.

      What we're seeing in the office is the Chromecasts 'flickering' in the cast extension menu. If you leave the cast extension open for a long time are you all seeing the same thing?

      We're working on something right now to hopefully put this issue to bed forever but it's going to be a week+ before it's done

Still, the problem hasn't been with my wireless. It literally had no issues at all until I made the big update.

      @mourgie Could you send me an email at jason@getvideostream.com with the name of the file you're trying to play (i'd like to download it on my end so that I can take a closer look at it)?

      I really want to fix this on the new version - but need a bit of info to do!

      @eyesofnova Thanks for all this, appricaite the detail here :)

      nacl64.exe is actually the process for our transcoding engine, so I would expect it to have very high processor usage. I replied to the other thread, if you could try out the old version and let us know if it stutters that would be awesome

    • [Developer Post] - App does load/start Anymore (blank page loads)

      We've been getting a ton of emails with users saying the app was working before and a couple days after install it breaks and won't load anymore.

      If you're seeing:

      1. The app not loading at all anymore
      2. The app app opening a white screen and then freezing there forever

      Do these steps to fix:

      1. Update Malwarebytes definitions to the newest version
      2. Uninstall and Reinstall Chrome

      If you're interested what's happening here: Malwarebytes accidentally flagged a core portion of Google Chrome as a backdoor and removed the file from your computer. A couple days later Malywarebytes realized their mistake and pushed an updated definition (unfortunately at this point the file was already deleted from your computer).       Hey guys, we're increibly sorry about these issues, we've been back and forth over the code 20+ times and we can't tell what could possibly cause this.

      To help figure this out i've spun up and old version of the app (from about 2 weeks before V2) to help figure out what's going on here.
