Video Quitting?
-
For whatever reason, on multiple videos, Videostream will play the videos and then without any warning, the video will quit, sending my TV to the default Videostream logo and my computer page to the "Choose a Video" screen. No idea why it's doing this. Any help?
-
@SimplyPut If the video is quitting one of two things could be going on. We're still trying to track down what's causing this (since multiple users are reporting it)
-
The files themselves are poorly encoded, is there any similarity between these files? IE did you get them from the same source or anything?
-
There's an intermittent network drop and our app isn't recovering properly. If you could use the contact us button (in the help menu) to get us logs - that would be amazingly helpful :)
^ To get logs just click contact us and a log file will be automatically downloaded. Just send me that file whichever way is easiest!

I'm having the same issues. I don't get any type of log. The Videostream tab goes from a picture from the film to the default screen where it asks you to pick a movie to stream. Is there any update to the issue? Is this something that only happens in the free version?
-
@skippyb_69 Try rebooting your PC + your Chromecast.. It's an issue with the latest Chromecast update!
-
I've noticed that this happens once my WiFi has the slightest hiccup its very annoying because i have to reset both the android app, my WiFi and the chrome app. Just hangs on buffering.
-
Me too. No buffering, no hiccups, smooth playback but, suddenly, VS stops and I'm back to the VS welcome screen. I have to restart the video and restart playing from the point where it was playing when it was cut off. When it does happen it's about half way thru a movie.
Most of the videos this happens with are MKV's downloaded from MOVREEL.
My PC is fast (I7, 12MB RAM, SSD) and connected to the router via Ethernet cable.
My Internet speed is rated at 55mbps.Update: As suggested, I reset Chromecast. After that we had 4 hours of videos (3 separate files) without a single hiccup, Looks good!

Further update.
It's been a few days now since I reset Chromecast and reported that the problem went away.
I have watched several MKV videos since then and have not had a single instance of VS suddenly quitting. Everything is great! -
I've tried the above, including removing both chrome and mobile apps but still no fix for the bailout error. I find myself getting up every few minutes to restart the file manually from the desktop as the mobile app loses any control and connection to my media library. Possibly other interference over my connection as its open and shared in my dormitory building and chromecast has no privacy functions.

I've resetted my Chromecast. Will monitor. Glad to know there are others Also having this issue. Why does my Video suddenly Drop outs & Quits from Video Stream App while it's playing on my Android Phone used as as Remote Control? Then I have to CLick on my TV Show & Cast to Chromecast on my TV all over again which is quite annoying. Is this Normal or a Glitch that can be fixed? My router is new & my HIghspeed is 25Mbps pkg. No popcorn microwaves running. Good thing is that it resumes from the part it stopped playing at. WIll try to send logs over may help. Let me know? Tks

@Miss-Shane About 3 month ago we should have fixed this. If you're still seeing this something new must be going on - any chance you could send Graham an email (he'll know more about this then me) at graham@getvideostream.com and we'll figure out what's going on here!
