Marking Completed Videos on the playlist

  • When watching whole season of shows, it is good to take a break once in a while. I would like to request for a feature that makes it easy for me to see where I have left off such as marking on the playlist all the videos that have been watched. This way I can load whole seasons of several shows on the play list and can quickly switch between shows. A grouped folder view in the playlist once you have added that adding by folder in the playlist will be great also for organizing.

Just talked about this with the team - we're going to do something like this for the next release (at least on mobile for sure)

  • thats a pretty brilliant idea. I like it!

  • @eyesofnova Glad you like it. I have gotten around the limitation of not being able to initiate new video files from the mobile app by just dumping whole seasons of shows in my playlist. This however presented organizational issues of its own.

  • @Jepjep Yeah, I emailed Jason awhile ago about being able to select shows from designated drive. The playlist thing is a step in the right direction, and this very early in development so I'm not mad at all about any missing features. I love support small developers, right down to buying tons of indie games online.

  • @eyesofnova Ooh like the ability to define a location that is constantly scanned and updated for new content?

  • @Jepjep in the works!

  • Was about to suggest this just now but figured it would be best to see if it had been suggested. :)

This is badly needed ^^ Current workaround is to delete all the videos above the current before stopping the connection, which is rather crude..

  • @Lommelun oh thanks for the tip. It may be crude but it beats previewing the files one by one.

  • How is it looking with this(these) feature(s). From what I can see they are not implemented yet. I will switch to this setup (eg buy premium) when playlist folders / tracking of watched video is implemented.

Hope they arrive soon, tired of not being able to use my chromecast for streaming local content from my PC - currently using Kodi + xbox controller + HDMI cable. Would be nice with VideoSteam + Smartphone for remote ´+ Chromecast instead.

    Best regards.

  • Just wanted to say that I'm liking the new mobile app! Great work development team. The interface looks slick. The ability to track completed shows is there and the progress of the currently showing video is shown as well. Great work on the desktop-mobile pairing. Maybe it was not such a good idea to sync up all the video contents of my 2 NAS that I use to store media with a total of 5 Terabytes (in terms of difficulty in file organization given the limited ways to show the information at the moment - either recent downloads or alphabetical) but the process was faster than I expected and it worked without a hitch.

    Further suggestions:

    • Maybe introduce new ways of organizing the files to make it easier to wade through a lot of video files (if there is a way to categorize the files by genres for example via drag and drop whole folders of video in the desktop and the generated metadata is used to organize the files on the mobile app in a much meaningful way would be great).

    • Currently the tracking is enabled if you have the mobile app running. Even if it was initiated on the chrome app it will still track it when you open the mobile app in the middle of watching the show. However videos you have watched using only the chrome app will not be tracked. Suggest to make this available in the chrome app as well and do a sync of completed shows for both mobile and chrome applications.

I couldn't praise the new features enough. Keep up the good work development team!
