How to see the subtitles

Hi, new in streaming and really enjoyed my first movie which I downloaded from cuevana and was able to save it to my pc , When I downloaded the movie another file was also with it with a .srt extension which I did not recognize but later and after searching for it I found it was the movie subtitles, in this case spanish, I can manage english and spanish but sometimes and due to my age some words do not get to my ears so in that case subtitles help a lot. So said this I sent both files to a folder as said in some instructions found on the internet but did not get them to appear on the movie, anyway I saw the movie with no problem but would like to fix this before I look the new download.
