- First thing first replace batteries from Roku remote
- Try to reset it by pressing the button which is present inside the battery compartment
- Use a new Roku remote

First, remove the batteries, then re-seat each battery. If the remote is unresponsive, replace the batteries and try again. Reset your Roku box or stick and Roku remote. Remove the batteries from the remote, then remove the power cable from the Roku streaming device.

@Willjoe If you found that your Roku TV remote not working, you can check the battery strength. When there is a weak battery, you should replace them with a fresh one.
You haven't mentioned what type of Roku remote you are using. It is a normal ordinary Roku remote or a voice-activated remote. If you are using a voice Roku remote control, I would recommend you check the connection. When a normal remote use an IR sensor the communication between the remote and the streaming device, you should connect the both device and the WiFi remote control to the same network.
The next thing that you can check about the not working remote is that, have you bought the remote control recently when your original remote has got damaged. There are compatibility issues while using the remote control with other models of Roku such as Roku Ultra, streaming box, Lite, etc.
You should check that.
In final, you can use a third-party universal remote control along with the device. There is a budget-friendly GE universal third-party remote for Roku streaming device. This remote control can be programmed to work with your Roku streaming device, Roku built-in smart TV, etc. You should find out the correct CL3, CL4, CL5, or CL6 device code based on the model.
