No movie plays

Im not sure about what can play or not in Videostream, I have torrent movies that were sent to me and I wanted to watch them with the chromecast. One says its an mkv file but the others are avi files, When I try to play them in Videostream i get a message that says "oops looks like we cant play that movie or song" Is there some way I can get these to play with Videostream?
