Steps to move the QuickBooks desktop file to QuickBooks online

You can perform the below steps to move the QuickBooks desktop file to online.
Step 1: Make your desktop file ready
Step 2: Move the QuickBooks file to online
QuickBooks desktop pro or premier
• Sign in as admin to the company file you need to import
• Move to the company
• Select export company file to QuickBooks online

• Choose start your export

• Sign in as admin to QuickBooks online
• Choose online company
• Select the QuickBooks online company you want to replace with the company file
• Hit continue tab
• If you track the inventory in QuickBooks
o Choose yes to bring them over and enter as of date
o Choose no, if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks online
• Enter agree and choose replace
• Hit yes, go ahead and replace the data and also choose replace tab
QuickBooks desktop enterprise
• Initially, sign in as admin to the desktop company file you want to move
• Press ctrl + 1 to open the product information window
• Also, press ctrl+ B+ Q and choose ok tab to display the export window
• Choose get started on the export window
• Sign in as an admin to the QuickBooks online company
• Also, choose online company and also go for the QuickBooks online company you want to replace with the company file
• Hit continue tab
• In case you track inventory in QuickBooks
o Go for yes, to bring them over, and then specify the as of date
o Select no, if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks online
• Enter in agree in the text field, and also choose replace
• Conclude the process, by selecting yes, go ahead and replace the data and choose to replace.

When you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, you can transfer much of the information from your company file without having to manually re-enter it. However, some information will not be automatically converted or transferred with your business file.

Data converted with changes may be handled differently in QuickBooks Online than it is in QuickBooks Desktop, so it might need some adjustment after migration.

Information that is not converted is not automatically transferred with your company file and will need to be entered manually after migration.

Go to Company, then select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online. Select Start your export. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company. Select Choose an online company, and choose the QuickBooks Online company you want to replace with your company file.
