How to Perform Hajj – Step by Step guide
-
Hajj refers to a trip to Makkah in Saudi Arabia in the context of Islam. As the fifth pillar of the Islamic faith, performing the Hajj is still a requirement for Muslims, but only for those who are physically, financially, and intellectually able to do so. Every year, millions of Muslims go to the UK for the Hajj using their Hajj Packages 2023 during the month of Dhu al-Hijjah (the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar).
The Hajj trip, which is regarded as one of Islam's most significant and rewarding acts, teaches a believer to be genuine to Allah Almighty and to be at peace with oneself in addition to doing goodness and demonstrating humility.
Here is a quick guide to performing the hajj.
Assuming Ihram
Pilgrims planning to perform Hajj must once again assume the Ihram state and make a declaration of desire to perform Hajj after completing their Umrah procedures.Travel to Mina
All hajj pilgrims are required to travel to Mina after their morning prayers in order to observe the ceremonial prayers of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, Fajar, and Qasr for the full day.Wuqoof-e-Arafat
On the second day of the Hajj, pilgrims make their way from Mina to Arafat while reciting the Istaghfar and offering prayers. When one arrives, from noon till dusk, Dhuhr and Asr prayers are mixed with Qasr prayers close to the Jabal al-Rahmah. The Wuqoof-e-Arafat Hajj ceremony is known by this name.Prayers in Muzdalifah
As soon as the sun sets, pilgrims start making their way to Muzdalifah to participate in the evening prayers and to spend the night there before the Fajar prayers in order to rest up for the Rami-al-Jamarat rite the following day. For this reason, during this time, pilgrims also collect 49 stones of a similar size for Rami.Rami-al-Jamarat
The Rami-al-Jamarat rite must be performed by pilgrims on the eleventh and twelfth days of the Hajj.Nahar
The Nahar ritual, the finale of the Rami rites, demands for the sacrifice of an animal.Taqsir or Halq
Male pilgrims should get their heads totally shaved (Halq) following the animal sacrifice, while it is also acceptable to get the hair cut. In contrast, female pilgrims are only permitted to trim their hair to the length of a fingertip and are not permitted to shave their heads (Taqsir).Goodbye, Tawaf
The "Farewell Tawaf" performance is the concluding Hajj ceremony. The hajj time comes to an end with the performance of Farewell tawaf, and pilgrims begin returning to their homes. These are a few of the most important but fundamental hajj rites that one should never skip doing.
