Shani Jayanti is the birthday of Lord Saturn. The day usually falls on Vaishakh Vadya Chaturdasi Amavasya. In Hindu mythology, Shani is the son of Surya and Chaya, known as Shanishwara. Shani Jayanthi will be celebrated on May 30th, Monday, 2022.
Shani in Astrology
In astrology, it is one of the nine planets and is considered one of the most significant. Shani is important in astrology because it is the slowest moving planet, and it affects a native for a longer time. Shani is seen for its negative effects, and hence people always fear Shani. Shani's many dashas go on for different periods of time, such as Shani Sade Sati, Shani Dhaiya, Mahadasha, or Shani Antardasha.
However, one should know that Shani doesn't necessarily provide adverse effects. If Shani is placed strongly in one's birth chart, it possesses the power to turn a drifter into a king overnight. It exerts a great influence and is a provider of karma. Shani punishes and blesses as per a soul's karma in its past lives.
Shani and Yama are both the sons of Surya. Shani punishes a soul during its lifetime, whereas Yama punishes it after the lifetime when the soul reaches Yamalok.
Celebrating Shani Jayanti
In Sanskrit, Shani is known as Shanishwara and Shanishchara. The name is given because it is a slow-moving planet that is the slowest in the solar system. To please the Shani, people observe fast on Shani Jayanti. Fast on the birthday of Shani makes it easy to carry the vibrance of one's prayers to the Universe than on other days. Saturday is also the best day to observe fasting for Shani and lift its malefic effects.
However, one should always check with an astrologer to determine if Shani is negatively affecting one's life. This is analyzed by reading the birth chart thoroughly and calculating the position of Shani.
Devotees with Shani's malefic effects or weak position can observe fast on Saturdays and Shani Jayanti. This way, they receive the blessings of the Lord and become able to fight the hardships of life.
Shani Jayanti is also a great day to please Shani with Hawan, Homam, and Yagya. All such activities should only be performed after consulting an astrologer and an experienced and eligible priest.
Shani Yantra is another powerful tool one can own and experience the negativity reduced. It brings the positive vibrations of Saturn to the native's life and helps him on the path of life.
