Revised PTA Taxes on Apple iPhone 14
-
There is good news for iPhone users who want to register their iPhone 14 Pro models with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decreased the tax for iPhones 14 series as per the instructions of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Revised PTA Taxes on Apple iPhone 14 Series (June 2023) will give some relief to iPhone enthusiasts.
The recently announced PTA taxes on Apple iPhone 14 is 20% of the phone price. The iPhone 14 is priced at around Rs. 245,291 in Pakistan. Therefore the iPhone 14 PTA tax on the passport registration is PKR 107,325. The CNIC registration is PKR 130,708.

This is definitely a welcome move for anyone wanting to get an iPhone 14 in Pakistan! I know a lot of people were holding off on purchasing or registering because the taxes were simply too high to justify. Dropping it to 20% is still not cheap, but it does ease the burden a bit compared to the previous rates.
From my experience, it’s always been challenging to import high-end phones here because of these PTA taxes. Registering via passport is a bit more affordable than the CNIC route, so that’s worth considering if you have a valid passport and don’t mind using it for the registration. I know a few people who registered theirs on CNIC, though, since they weren't traveling soon and needed their phones to be PTA-approved for local use without any hassle.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that the tax structure in Pakistan can be unpredictable. So if you're planning to get an iPhone soon, it might be wise to go ahead while the rates are lower, as the taxes could be increased again later on.

For those who are planning to buy a new iPhone, this lower tax rate might also be a great time to explore apps and services that enhance the iOS experience. For example, with platforms like Scarlet iOS, users can easily access third-party apps and games that aren’t available in the standard mobile software Store, broadening their options. Scarlet iOS is especially useful for anyone looking to expand their app collection without jailbreaking their device.
