AVG is a tough one to get through -__- it's three steps!
1 )Try disabling scanning of TLS and SSL traffic this way:
Open AVG and click "Options" -> "Advanced Settings" -> "Web Browsing Protection" -> "Online Shield" -> "Expert Settings" Uncheck "Web Browsing Protection" option.2) Open up TCP ports 5556 and 5558 in firewall:
1. Open the AVG Program.
2. On the Tools menu, click "Firewall settings."
3. In the left tree menu under Profiles, expand the profile you are currently using.
4. Click "System services."
5. Click "Manage user system rules," and then click Add.
6. In the new window, for "protocol," select "TCP"
7. For "direction," select "Both ways," and then click OK.
8. For "local port(s)," click "User selected ports; check a port in the list or add your own to the edit box", type the port you need to open (5556 and repeat for 5558), and then click OK.
9. For "remote port(s)," select "All ports (0 - 65535)," and then click OK.
10. For "remote address(es)," select "All Networks," and then click OK.
11. Confirm all windows by clicking OK.3) Add an exception/exclusion for chrome.exe:
1. Open your AVG program.
2. From the Options menu, select Advanced settings.
3. In the left pane, select Exceptions.
4. In the right pane, click Add exception.
5. In the drop-down menu, select exception type - File or Folder.
6. Browse to the file or folder that you want to exclude.
7. Select whether you want to apply the exception also for other AVG components.
8. Click OK to save details of the exception.
9. Click OK again to save the settings.

I tried these instructions on Windows 7, AVG 2015.0.5645, Chrome Version 40.0.2214.91 m.
I don't have Online Shield or AVG Firewall., so I just added the exception to chrome.exe with no luck. Still the same blocked firewall. I 'm sure this is a great application, but if it's too difficult to install, most people will give up on it.
