A question about a Yamaha YBR 125 (Custom)

Hey guys,
Fairly new rider but loving it so far! However as I'm new to bikes in general, I noticed that my bike has a "lock" position on the ignition which requires me to push the key down into the ignition and turn it left (however usually when I do this, the key can't be removed so I have to move it back to "off" anyway)

Just wondering what the point of that ignition position is? Am I doing something wrong?Thanks!
