I have had this app for a while now and when I play high def video it seems to play 30 secs then buffer, 30 secs then buffer.. I just downloaded the most recent version and it still sucks.. I read the lengthy article/tip on tweaking the wireless router.. This isn't gonna happen.. If I have to redo my router settings in order to get this app working correctly then it isn't worth installing. It works great on low quality but why own a HD TV if you just gonna watch the same ole 480p. So not worth the trouble..

Hi Cajun! If you can't get HD video working it usually has to do with a combination of the file type you are playing and the make/model of your computer and router. Some routers and computers cannot keep up with the conversion process needed to get the video into a format the chromecast can read!

If you stick with mp4 files they tend to work the best, or if you want I can give you a link to an external conversion program that will get all your files into a profile the chromecast can more easily read so we can stick to less heavy conversions :)

Shoot us an email at team at getvideostream dot com if you'd like to set that up!

Hey, the lengthy article I wrote I know seems excessive but it also will help greatly for all devices in your home not just for videostream. Also, if you're still running a 2.4ghz router with any devices that are wireless g its very possible that you don't have the network bandwidth to get the videos to play in that format. If you'd like, I could help you trouble shoot if you're willing to give a few things a try before giving up. I love this stuff.

Plenty of people have no problems running this "craptastic" app (which is FREE, might I add), or going through the oh-so-rigorous ordeal of properly configuring a home network. Even the few users who have problems AFTER running through the troubleshooter have been able to get a solution from the devs by asking for help utilizing this new-found technique called "common courtesy." Also, it seems like most users here were also raised in civilization and have at least a passing familiarity with "manners" and how to apply them.

The issue here isn't with a craptastic app as much as it is with a craptastic user.

Or maybe you're right...the nerve of these developers! Writing an app that provides functionality available nowhere else, giving it away for free and then providing free support when it doesn't work perfectly for every single user...what a bunch of assholes! And then they expect us to spend a few minutes troubleshooting our computers which have a problem running their free software--who the hell do they think they are?! Luckily there are brave patriots like you Mr Cajun to speak up to these tyrants and tell 'em how it is!

...nah, I think was right the first time; craptastic user. PEBKAC.

            DIAF.

            Sincerely,
Some Guy Who Gets to Stream Videos to His Television in 1080p While You Can't

funny you know, i dont consider myself a great it guy but i sorta figured this would come up, you do understand the the app transcodes on the fly right? this means that your perhaps craaptastic computer has to be able to keep up if the file being played requires it, Ive had this happen a few times with avi's. Long story short, problem is most likely operator error.
                  -:)
