Typo tricks fans into thinking PC and Switch Persona 5 ports are coming
-
Persona 5 is easily one of the most popular JRPGs of all time, but at the time of writing the game, the game is only available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 owners. Persona 5 Royal, the updated and expanded re-release, carries this one step further. for being exclusive to PlayStation 4, but this situation may not be permanent. Atlus' official Twitter account recently made a post that appears to hint at possible PC and Nintendo Switch ports for Persona 5 Royal.
The post is an announcement that Atlus-O-Weenie, a costume content that fans can enter to receive one of six prize packages, is making a comeback this year. Participants can submit images of themselves dressed as any Atlus character for a chance to win games, Persona series merchandise, and other exclusive rewards. However, the original version of the rules featured a surprising bonus prize: a digital code for Persona 5 Royal on PS4, PC, or Nintendo Switch. The possibility of Persona 5 Royal coming to Switch and other non-PlayStation consoles seems to be enough for fans to take notice. However, it is also possible that this post is nothing more than a typo that the official Atlus Twitter account is trying to put it through. As a general rule of thumb, all leaks should be taken with a grain of salt.
It may be that someone just copied and pasted the information incorrectly, but the fact remains that Persona 5 is a modern classic RPG. Many fans would be delighted to see it make the leap to other platforms, particularly in its expanded edition. The Persona franchise's sister series, Shin Megami Tensei, has recently brought the PlayStation exclusive title Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne to the Nintendo Switch, so a version of Persona 5 Royal Switch would be unprecedented.

At the time of writing, it appears that many fans are excited about the possibility of Persona 5 Royal coming to new platforms, although many are not necessarily convinced that it will happen anytime soon. One user responded by expressing his doubts, but pointed out that if the leak was genuine, Atlus might consider the Switch port pre-ordered at the time it went up. Another admitted that he was sure this leak was a typo, but begged Atlus to release the ports anyway. Shin Megami Tensei and Persona are very different series despite having similar roots, so one making the leap to Nintendo Switch doesn't guarantee that the other will too.
